The sweet smell of a newborn baby, a mix of baby powder and innocence, it's irresistible. My hope is that I am able to capture that image for the parents of these beautiful baby girls because it lasts just a moment. Both of these girls are so special to me and I feel truly blessed to have been able to snuggle and love on them for the couple of hours I had them. There is no love like the love of parent and child, God's tiny glimpse into His love for us.

Ahh, the youngest son of my favorite sales person. I know that not matter what comes, this mom is my cient and my friend forevah! She lets me do crazy things with her children and for a time, even drove a few hours to make it possible. This day our shoot was filled with clotheline and doughnuts. Seriously, I can't think of anything better than some Carter and doughnuts...yeah baby!

For the first time ever, a baby did not like me. Shocked? I was too! I don't know if it was my big ugly camera or the lights or simply stage fright, but every time she saw that camera go up to my face, those big sad lips started to quiver. Seriously, it broke my heart. Baby tears are the saddest thing ever and I wanted so badly for her to show the camera the smiles she freely dispensed when I put it down. After a few minutes and come cuddles with Mommy, she calmed down and ironically enough thought the flower pot was the greatest thing. Why is this ironic? Because most babies absolutely hate the flower pot, but not Miss Elyse, she thought it was just perfect. From then, it was pretty much smooth sailing and I was the one sad when it was time to leave.

Hayley, Hayley, Haley!

Her little bug, that's what Hayley's mom calls her. She is crazy, crazy cute and I just adore her sweet angelic face. I can hardly wrap my mind around the fact that she is already 9 stinkin months old. Her first year mark is so close, I can smell the cake baking and I don't know whether to jump for joy or grab a tissue to wipe the tears. I so love my job folks even though I take forever to update my blog!

I am going to combine these two shoots into one sneak peek because I am so crazy behind that I never got to Carter's preview before. I had the pleasure of going on location to the home of a wonderful client's mother-in-law to shoot some fun, casual family portraits and I cannot describe how incredibly hospitable they were. Not to mention understanding when I found myself lost courtesy of Google for iPhone. After being rescued via phone and talked the rest of the way, we were able to get some classic, timeless portraits...my favorite kind. :)

So I fully admit that I am behind again in my sneak peaks. Usually January is a slow month for shooting and a busy paperwork month but this year it's been busy with both! Anywho, I met this family last week for an outdoor session and had a great time. They were a referral from a previous satisfied customer and nothing makes me happier that clients who tell their friends about me. This family was so laid back and relaxed and made my job so easy!

First of all, THANK YOU to my blog followers and stalkers alike who have such nice things to say about my work and who lovingly refer their friends and families. Without you, I wouldn't be the photographer I am today. Thank you to all my fabulous clients/friends (to me, they are one in the same) for making this year so memorable. To my wedding clients, past & present...I have loved be a part of the most special moments in your lives and I cannot tell you how much means to get updates on how your lives are changing. To my all my families and baby planners, it almost hurts to see your babies grow up, but I consider it a gift to be a part of your lives and your children truly mean the world to me. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a blessed new year. Next to the business at hand, I will be taking a much needed break for the rest of the year (sounds like a long time, doesn't it?) to spend with my family and friends and sleep a little too. T & P Engagement Part II

I got to end the year off with a weekend full of wonderfully photogenic people, isn't that great? Yesterday was the second part of Taryn & Patrick's engagement which was filled with driving around and exploring new territory and ended with some familiar places close to home. A perfect adventure...my favorite kind of session.

Not to self, next time wait for the sun to be a little lower when attempting this location again. given that I had a no flash (mostly because I loathe the use of flash outdoor), this was a miracle shot indeed!

Well, in this case, the weather could've but we were absolutely not about to let a few rain drops stop us. Truth be told, I was standing in the rain for this first shot and the clouds rolling in along with it did not look friendly at all. But, guess what. Immediately following one favorite was another, what a great day I was having! This family is new to my heart but definitely holds a permanent position for sure. Mom is an amazing floral designer and both kids are friends with mine. Not only are they wonderfully coordinated, but pretty darn easy to photograph too...how perfect is that?

I got to spend some quality times with one of my favorite clients/former teachers/future teacher/salesperson and friend this weekend and boy did we cram in quite a few pictures in a very small window of time. Not only did we do some in-studio with Mr. Carter, we loaded up the family to drive to a location with a porch which just happened to perfectly match their outfits...hello, totally worth it. I just adore this family and I have to tell you, hearing Cole cry when it was time to leave Megan both warmed my heart and broke it simultaneously. Holly, I think the two of them need some quality time together real soon. :)

I had the pleasure of photographing one of my favorite clients and his mom & dad tonight. I can hardly believe how big he has gotten since I have seen him last and add to that he's going to be a big brother next summer...my oh my, it seems like yesterday when I was doing his newborn pictures! Of course I had Megan with me and she always works so hard with the little ones and loves every minute of it, a born baby sitter. Thank you for a terrific session, Blake and I can't wait to meet your baby brother or sister!

Every year we say we want to go outside and by some strange coincidence, every year the weather is cold and windy and/or rainy; this year was no exception. We decided to brave it anyway but it wasn't long before we were making a break for the cars to head back into the studio. I know that one of these years the weather will be absolute perfection and the two and a half hour drive will have been worth it, Chelsea, I promise! In any event, I was glad to see you guys and I think we got some definite contenders for this year's cards no matter the weather.

Every year I have photographed these two handsome blue-eyed boys for their grandmother and every year I am so blown away but what great pictures they take so you can imagine my glee when I found out that another boy would be arriving in time to be included in this year's session. The weather was terrible and the mosquitoes were loving it, but we managed to get it done anyway, those boys were such troopers!

M & M Engagement

What an amazing night for an engagement shoot! Can I tell you how big a sucker I am for young love or can you see on your own? The weather was perfect, the light was gorgeous and the couple, well they couldn't possibly have been any more photogenic. This couple is near and dear to me as the bride was my youngest's kindergarten teacher and he asks at least once a week if he can please go back to her class.

These next few were taken in my new secret favorite place. The mosquitoes and small patches of poison ivy were a bit of a challenge, but that absolutely awesome light made it all worth it. Wasn't it so nice for God to produce a sunset like this one just for me?

This terrific family came to see me this evening with two of the sweetest blue-eyed children. Little Miss Charlotte had absolutely no interest in taking a nap, but that was ok given that she was in great spirits the whole time and Mr. Grant certainly made Megan work for her allowance. I love having her around when I work, she is so great with little kids.

Yes, there were more of him smiling, but I just loved the mood of this one. Such attitude!

Princess Emma

Can you tell that I don't think there is anything sweeter than a newborn baby? Ten day old Emma was just so cuddly and sweet and strong too. It won't be long before she's up an running! Sweet Mr. Liam was only 5 days old when we did his newborn pictures and he couldn't possibly have been an easier baby. He slept like a rock pretty much the entire session and let me do whatever I pleased. After you see the pictures, you'll agree. There isn't anything else I can say but I *big puffy heart* baby Liam.

Fall Babies

Please excuse my blog absence lately. With a child sick with something the doctor couldn't figure out and a hubby having knee surgery, the last several weeks have been a bit of a mess around here. The good news is that although I haven't been posting much, I have absolutely been shooting away! My first little fall princess is the darling Miss Peyton whom is showcased quite a bit on this blog. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get her adorable piggy costume, but we did succeed in getting great pics of her other Halloween wardrobe choices!
I can always count on Payton's mom to bring in tons of fabulous clothes!

Next up is little Miss Hayley in her hot chili pepper costume. She was completely enthralled by all the candy and I have no doubt that she will be a champion trick-or-treater when she sets a little bit older.

One Very Special Little Girl

I can't believe this little princess is more than a year old! It's been way too long since I've seen her and now she's about to be a big sister too. Wow! And oh my is he is strong little guy! We had to change our plans a little bit when he decided to show me how good he is at rolling over (and over and over) but that was ok because this baby boy was just happy pretty much no matter what we did with him as long as he could see his mom. What a difference a week makes! Hayley's mom called about a week after her three month session to let me know that Hayley had developed super strength and was now holding her head up like a champ so of course I told her to bring her back by! We had lots of fun today and I was amazed by what a happy little camper she is.

These little ladies are another of my favorites and Mom has the best clothes for them! My girls absolutely adore them and hate it when they have to go, but with a three hour drive home to look forward to, leaving in enough time to beat traffic is a must. Still, I am so glad they are willing to come all that way for me.
It's clear where they get their good looks.

We tried with all we had to get the baby in on this pose but she would have none of it...bummer.

Mom was determined to get this shot and with the help of a short cat nap and M&Ms after a failed first attempt, her determination paid off the second time around.

Twice the fun

Oh my goodness, I had birthday twins this weekend and they were so stinking cute!! Mom brought the cutest little birthday outfits ever and let me tell you, the kids had a terrific time destroying them with frosting. Birthday boy, Junior, outlasted his sister in the cake department and I can only imagine what poor mom's night was like when they got home. I think the pictures were definitely worth it though. :)

I cannot believe how much Miss Hailey has grown! My goodness, she's like a totally different baby than I one I photographed just three months ago. One thing has not changed though, she is just as precious as ever. Since she's not quite holding her head up yet, we will be doing some more very soon but here are just a few from this afternoon. This first one is my absolute favorite and will definitely be printed for my office!

Baby Luke turns one!

Mr. Luke came in for his one year pictures as a part of his baby plan. Because all teenage girls travel in packs, my oldest daughter had two of her friends over and he had a harem of women at his disposal...lucky boy! They just loved him to pieces and I am fairly certain the feeling was mutual. Now that he is walking, keeping him in one place was not an east task but between the half dozen or so of us we were able to get some terrific shots. I can't believe how quickly my baby planners grow up! Miss Olivia's six month session went smashingly well. As you can see, she was in a terrific mood with all smiles the whole time. Of course, like most babies who visit me regularly, she and M became best buddies; I only wish I had thought to snap a quick pic of the two of them. Next time for sure. I was already planning our nine month session before we were finished with this one! :)

It's been quite a while since I've posted, I know, but generally the months of May & June are consumed with the kids' end of school activities and swim team and this year was no exception in fact, it was probably worse! My hours are a bit sporadic during summer so there won't be as many sneak peeks as usual since I don't book many summer appointments other than baby planners. With that explanation made, i can now move on to showing you how much one of my favorite newborns has grown. Isn't she just a living doll? She's already crawling and ordering us all around at the tender age of 7 months, but with those big brown eyes, we were helpless to tell her no.

If you can't tell by how many pics I posted, then let me be very clear, I had an absolute BLAST with this girl. She brought her bff and we took some fun shots of them together but you can see those on my personal blog here. Wanna know my favorite thing about this shoot other than Miss Amanda's gorgeous blue eyes? She wore her fabulous black pumps for the entire time. Girls, nothing gives you confidence like a great pair of pumps, don't leave home without 'em! :)

Lucky for us, he only had one accident although Dad may not have thought himself so lucky being the one he christened! I had such a fantastic time shooting this young couple's engagement that I had to find any excuse to do it again and so since we literally had NO sunset this Saturday evening, I will get the chance! Whoo hoo! I just couldn't possibly narrow down the shots so I decided to post a bunch of 'em along with a little teaser for what's to come later on this week after phase two..hehe!

So this is the teaser. Even though I knew we couldn't officially shoot because the sun was pretty much gone and the sky was just a yucky blueish gray, I wanted to get a feel for what I had in mind and I must say, that I am stoked! This isn't near the quality of what I am planning, but oh boy is it gonna be fab-u-lous!

We had a very full session this afternoon. It is so hard for me when my Baby Planners turn a year old and graduate. I know I won't be seeing them as often anymore and it just breaks my heart. A Different Kind of Wedding

This was supposed to be a back yard wedding and with all the rains and after the back yard flooded, it turned into a very cramped indoor wedding. Mercifully by the time the wedding was just about to begin, the rains stopped and things begin to dry outside though not near enough to have the ceremony outside, it was dry enough to take some pics. At least everyone took it in stride and enjoyed the evening...

Uhm so yeah, they just don't come ANY cuter than Miss Chloe. She was just a complete doll baby from start to finish and sooooo happy and smiley, oh wow there just aren't words. I was out at my parent's house in The Woodlands this weekend and had the opportunity to shoot one of my favorite little ones at her daddy's golf course. Oh my, I could just squeeze her all day long, she is just the sweetest thing. I even brought her favorite smile maker, Lola, with me but the flowers proved too powerful a force (and tasty too apparently)! This lovely high school senior came to see me yesterday evening and she was such a delight. We started in studio and then went roaming around to different locations to do the outdoor portion of her session which is my favorite part! My little boys are growing up so fast!! Another graduate and he melts me every single time. His laugh has to be the cutest thing EVER! I gotta say though, he was not all that happy with the birthday cake we sat in front of him. It was his birthday and he could cry if he wanted to! This was the very first session in my new studio and I am so glad it was this family as nothing was quite where it was supposed to be and at least they are totally used to my kookiness! Move Update

Yes, we are still moving. Holy cow this is a serious undertaking! I don't even want to think about what it would be like moving cross country or even to another city given the havoc this 5 minute move is wreaking. The movers will be here Thursday to move all the furniture and big stuff (think hubby's Bowflex...yeesh) so everything will be completely dismantled Tuesday and Wednesday which means I will not be available until Monday at the earliest. I seriously hope that I will be up and running again on Monday as far as internet access, but we know how these things go, right? I will be back to update again as soon as I am able. When you hear from me again, I will officially be in our new house with my awesome office and studio...YAAAAAY!!!

On a side note, I absolutely have to give a HUGE thank-you to all of my clients who are being so understanding and gracious about the delays in their orders & proofs. You all have no idea how thankful I am!

My last official session before the movers come was Mr. Blake! I cannot believe he is already a whole year old, where does the time go? With him walking now, keeping up with him proved quite a challenge, butthe chase is so worth it to see that terrific smile and big blue eyes! Happy Birthday little man!

This session was a Christmas gift for Barbara from her daughter and the first time we had it scheduled was for super bowl Sunday. Thankfully for the men, the forecast called for very unfavorable weather so we rescheduled for this weekend instead. I have to thank everyone in this delightful family for being so wonderfully obedient and because of it we whipped right through this session even with two little cuties under the age of two! BIG News

WE ARE MOVING!!! This is super exciting news for us and we just can't wait! The good news is that I will only be about 5 minutes from where I am now so it will mean little to no change for my clients. The not so wonderful news is that for about the next 3-4 weeks I will be neck deep in cleaning, packing and unpacking so my communication will be spotty. I'll still be shooting as normal for those sessions already scheduled, but my proofing will be way behind so please be patient as we make our major adjustments all while trying to keep up with work, school, and activites. I already have new office furniture on order and I can't wait to post some pics once it's all together! Thanks so much for your patience and understanding!

One of my favorite little ones was in this weekend but given all the erratic weather lately was suffering with the crud that is going around. We managed to get a couple good ones after we pulled out every weapon in my arsenal but she is worth it. Just look at her, you can see why I adore her so much! Here we are in 2009 and I am back from my "vacation" though as you can see below, I didn't exactly take the entire three weeks off. One of the best and worst things about taking time off is getting back to work! I am sure you all can imagine what my e-mail inbox looks like...it's CRAZY! I am doing my best to catch-up but it may take a few days so please be patient with me! Also on my plate this month is revamping the main website and new pricing structure along with organizing the shopping cart feature. My head is spinning just thinking about it all! I hope to have at least the site live by mid-February so in the meantime, please enjoy perusing the blog and contact me directly for pricing info!

Ringing in the New Year

This year, me and the hubby spent New Year's Eve shooting a wedding for a terrific couple in Magnolia at The Cowboy Church. This family is so awesome, I can't even tell you. For the first set of engagements, Janet, the bride's mom, invited my kids out to swim at their house and made dinner for us all while I was out with her daughter and future son-in-law. AND, as a thank-you for agreeing to shoot this wedding on the holiday, they got us a fabulous room for the night (see personal blog for those pics). I had a wonderful time and would do it all over again. I know Janet & Amy have been waiting sooo patiently for this preview, so enjoy ladies!

I had the pleasure of photographing this lovely family during my time off and though I was bummed that we weren't able to go outdoors for a more relaxed session, I really enjoyed them in studio too! Adopted Grandma, Pat came along and what a delightful person she was to sit and chat with.

These two will be married this June in Utah and I am so excited to be doing their "Kris-style" engagements in April! We were supposed to do them immediately following the family session, but the weather was simply not cooperating. That's ok, this gave us a chance to meet and now something to look forward too! :-)

I wanted to wish every blog stalker, friend, family member and client alike a very merry Christmas and a happy new year! I will be closed for the holidays from tomorrow, Decemeber 23rd through Januay 6th though I will have limited hours the week after Christmas for those who still need to pick up portraits. This has been the busiest year so far and I have all of you to thank! Having been so busy, I never seemed to get around to taking those holiday portaits of my own kids until earlier this evening. 'Tis the season for beautiful baby girls and I just love them to pieces! This one was only 10 days old and as alert as she could be! She fought sleep as best she could, but she proved no match for my secret weapon and eventually gave up and snuggled herself to sleep. Not before we got some terrific images of she and her daddy, I get the feeling she's gonna be a daddy's girl all the way!

I had the pleasure of photographing this lovely couple's wedding this past weekend and I cannot get over how incredibly hospitable the clients I am blessed with are. These families were so welcoming and agreeable and Marissa even tried to calm my nerves with her champagne when my beloved favorite camera took a header out of the back of the car and bounced to it's death on the pavement. Since I have great insurance, I refused to let that little mishap get me down and went about the business of capturing this very special day. Hello folks! I wanted to let everyone know that even I, the workaholic, will be taking some time off this week to celebrate Thanksgiving with the people I love. I will not be available either Thursday, November 27th or Friday, the 28th but will be back to regular business hours beginning again on Monday, December 1st. Jenni totally got me when I told her not to fear color and matched her family, not once but twice. This holiday season has been full of beautiful families and this family was the latest in that trend! Such wonderful people with gorgeous children, talk about hitting the genetic jackpot...wow! Sometimes 18 month-olds can be challenging, but this little man was a delight from start to finish! I just can't get enough of evening light and this is one of my absolute favorite places to capture it.

After we had wrung every last ray out of the sun, we went in studio for some classic formal portraits and once again, the camera just loved this photogenic bunch!

What a stunning girl and a complete natural in front of the camera Miss C was, I couldn't have asked for more.

I owe another huge thank you to Ashtonwoods homes for the use of their gorgeous model home, the Tiffany located in the incredible burgeoning gated community of Treeline. I am being completely honest when I say that when we have discussed building a new home, Treeline is our top choice. Their sales people are so accommodating and friendly and the homes and lots simply perfect. Of course, Marissa totally increased the face value of these homes in her stunning gown and genuine playfulness. I have no doubt that Brad will be complete gobsmacked when he sees his future wife coming up the aisle to meet him looking like this. Lucky me, I will be there to see it and hopefully capture it through my lens! So meet Marissa, one of my very lovely December brides...

I love returning clients! I enjoy so much seeing how their kids have changed in just a few short months. This little cutie makes me giggle every time she's here. She likes to pretend she doesn't want her picture taken, but I know better. When I think of Hailey, the song, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cindy Lauper is like a soundtrack playing in my mind. She is 100% girlie girl and that smile totally gives it away. Her big sister, Kayla is always such a wonderful help with a great attitude and a sweet heart. The girls even stayed for a while after we were finished up to bounce around and dance with my girls while they all wore pettiskirts, now where else would you be able to do that? This beautiful family came to see me this morning and brought their dogs, Cassie & Cooper and I have to say I have never seen such incredibly well behaved dogs. They sat nice and proper the entire time we shot and even when we went into the other room without them to do Christmas pj pics. I should probably mention that their little guy stole my daughter's heart and she was more than happy to play blocks or read or blow bubbles for him since having his picture taken was not real high on his list of priorities. Let me start by saying that these are my favorite images of yesterday's session and they may not necessarily be those of my bride, Amy. Though I didn't post the one she specifically that she didn't like (even though I loved it, she is the client here). Yesterday was the re-shoot of an engagement back in the summer when mother nature wasn't being real cooperative with all the lightning and whatnot. We wanted to wait for cooler weather for a warmer wardrobe which would have been fine last weekend, but being true to Houston, this weekend saw highs in the 80's. Miss Sophia surprised mommy & daddy and came a couple days early and boy is she a sweetheart. I could photograph newborns all day long and this one was just perfect for snuggling although being naked wasn't real high on her list. I cannot get over how much she looks like her daddy! I can't wait to photograph her again in a few month's time and see how she has changed.

I don't know if it's fair to call this a sneak peek. There are just so many images and I simply couldn't choose which to post! I spent most of my afternoon and into the evening with these two lovely ladies and thier mom yesterday. One is obviously a volleyball player and school mascot but also rides dirtbikes too. Her older sister is a member of the swim team and a high school senior. I can only imagine how much running around mom has to do on top of being a PE teacher herself. Wow. One of the best things about this sessions was watching these girls interact. They laugh, they kid and truly enjoy each other. I only hope that my girls have this kind of camaraderie when they are older too!

I love brand new families! This very loved little girl came in with her mommy and daddy this morning so we could get some family and three month pictures. Her parents were so terrific and understanding given the repair workers we had been expecting for EIGHT months to fix a leak in the arch right above my studio finally turned up this morning. We ended up shooting around fallen sheet rock and insulation, but Miss Millie was unfazed! In a few weeks time, she will be back for a Christmas themed session and oh the possibilities!

I went a little more fall with the pumpkins this time around, but it is definitely the babies that make it so dern cute!

Don't high school seniors just rock? As much as I adore shooting newborns and families, it is great to totally switch gears and shoot older "kids", most of whom are willing to do just about anything. Lauren is a volleyball player and photographing her was almost too easy. The only challenge for her were straight face poses, but when you have such a great smile there really aren't too many reasons not to show it off. Her mom and boyfriend came with her and I must say that Trey was a terrific reflector holder, arguably the best ever ;-).

This lovely family came to see my this morning with their little one, Madison and she was just the sweetest little punkin! Most babies do not like to have their clothes changed repeatedly and she was no exception, but she got over it in the blink of an eye and was all smiles when the camera was on her. I love the story behind the dress she is wearing in the family picture, it is one that both mom and auntie wore when they were babies and Miss Madison wasn't going to be able to wear it much longer.
